A short, informal concert is taking place in Salisbury Cathedral on Sunday, February 8 between 4.15 and 5 pm, by the boy choristers.
The boys will be performing some of the music they will sing when they visit Toulouse later in the month. This includes Britten's Missa Brevis, Faur's Cantique de Jean Racine, Mendelssohn's Lift Thine Eyes and pieces by Elgar, Boyce, Stanford and others.
Director of music, Simon Lole, explains the concert: "The boys always sing with the lay vicars in the cathedral here but in France they will be without the men and therefore have had to learn a totally new, trebles only, repertoire. It's been challenging learning this in such a short time, but the boys are really enjoying it - particularly the Britten, they love it."
David Newsholme, the cathedral's organ scholar will be playing the organ and admission is free.
