POLICE are to launch a major recruitment drive to get more special constables in the force.
Throughout February Specials will be on the streets of Swindon spreading the word about the life of a volunteer police officer.
Wiltshire Constabulary hopes to fill nine new posts in Swindon.
The campaign comes after the force was awarded almost £70,000 extra funding from the Home Office to train 70 officers.
Last week, nine new officers had their attestation and will soon be pounding the beat. There will be an information stand in the Brunel Centre from 9am to 5.30pm each Saturday from February 7 to 28. For more information call 01380 734066.
