FIREFIGHTERS from Amesbury and Ludgershall were called to Somme Road, Perham Down, on Saturday afternoon, following a report of an outbuilding on fire.
Crews arrived on the scene shortly after 4.40pm, to find the roof of the single-storey derelict building well alight.
The brick building, a former store owned by the military, is near the Wouldham married quarters, but the blaze was confined to the roof rafters and was not allowed to spread.
The building remained structurally sound.
A spokesman for the ministry of defence police told the Journal that inquiries were going on but the fire was not being treated as suspicious.
However, he added, if members of the public did see anything suspicious, they should contact the MoD police, on 01980 845371.
