ELLIS Wilmot is thriving in his new role as one third of Chippenham's midfield engine room. Since manager Steve White changed the side to a 3-5-2 formation the Bluebirds have looked far more solid and no more so than in midfield.

Wilmot put in another bustling display on Saturday as did his midfield partners Gary Horgan and Mark Badman. He enjoys playing alongside them because he feels the three have a special understanding.

"The three of us get on well off the pitch as well which helps I think.

"We all know where each other is all the time so if one goes forward another one sits back and it seems to be working really well.''

He feels the same work ethic is being shown across the pitch. "All over the team everyone is working really hard and we have built up a nice team spirit and taken it from there really," said Wilmot.

"It's one defeat in nine now and we are starting to get wins out of the games we were drawing.

"In the first 20 minutes at Tiverton and against Havant we weren't really the better side but we ground it out and took it on from there really.

"Hervs made two or three great saves when the game was still 0-0 so everyone is playing their part. In games before we haven't been taking our chances but James has come in and can't stop scoring which is great. There's a lot more smiles around the place and it's a good feeling so long may it continue."
