Ref. 28832-25TWO young entrepreneurs hope to explode on to the music scene, thanks to the Prince's Trust.

Andre Clemmings, 25, and his pal Scott Powell, who recently met through the Trust, have been given a £250 market-testing grant to see if they have what it takes to launch a successful promotions business in the cut-throat world of music.

Andre, of Newcastle Street, who is an art and graphics student at Swindon College, said: "Our business will take the music scene back to where it was. We just want people to have great nights without drugs.

"We also plan to target the under-18 market, there is big demand for events for young people."

Scott, 28, who is currently unemployed, lives in County Road. He added: "The Prince's Trust has been brilliant, they have given us a lot of support and advice. We really want to make this happen."

The pair are off to a promising start after having pencilled in a drum n bass night at Fusion nightclub on February 20.

Rob Small, Prince's Trust area manager for the Western counties, said: "Through a range of programmes the trust offers practical solutions to help young people aged 14 to 30 get their lives working.

"Our research shows 60 per cent of the businesses we help to start run into their third year."

Meanwhile business people are needed to act as mentors and pass their experience on to young people.

"The reason why so many of the businesses survive is due largely to the support they get from mentors.

"We need people, from a range of businesses to get involved to give these young people a chance."

Anyone who can spare two to three hours a month, is urged to contact the Trust on 0800 842842.
