Community police officers are targeting disruptive youngsters in Calne as part of a month trial.
Community Support Officers Mark McIntyre and Terry Lee are splitting their rounds between Chippenham and Calne this month.
They are currently in Calne during Wednesday daytime and Thursday and Friday evening to keep an eye on the town and maintain a police presence.
In particular they are talking to groups of youngsters who congregate and cause a nuisance, leading to complaints about issues including noise, criminal damage and litter.
Sergeant Nick Shorten of Calne Police Station said Friday night was the biggest problem.
He said: "The CSOs are speaking to the kids and pointing out what they are doing and how it breaks the law or disturbs other people. They have the power to confiscate if children are underage drinking or smoking.
"It is early days but they have made lots of contacts and are having a positive impact on the town. At the end of the month they will be reviewed and hopefully I will be building a case for a full time officer in Calne."
