The Swindon branch of the UK's leading not-for-profit abortion provider has moved to a new location in the town.

Bpas' consultation centre has moved from Carfax Street to Dammas Lane, Old Town, and is now open three times a week rather than two.

Swindon South MP Julia Drown will officially open the new premises during an open day for the public on March 5.

The centre provides pregnancy testing, termination advice and counselling.

Reproductive health services ranging from family planning, including emergency contraception, to chlamydia screening are also on offer.

The name originally stood for the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, but now it is just known as bpas.

Centre manager Karen Bradley said: "The new premises are centrally located making it even easier to access the bpas service provided in Swindon.

"It is very relaxed and informal and it is our aim to make women feel at ease the moment they walk through the door."

Clients can make confidential bookings via the actionline on 0845 304030.

The charity was established after the 1967 abortion act to provide an affordable, high quality abortion service. It also provides NHS- funded abortions.
