BATH skipper Danny Grewcock has labelled Saturday's Parker Pen Challenge Cup quarter-final, second leg clash with Beziers as his side's biggest game of the season.

The Zurich Premiership leaders trail by 24-19 after last weekend's first leg and the England lock admits Bath have a point to prove after a first-half horror show in France.

"We know that we were poor at the weekend and we are desperate to erase the memory of what was the poorest 40 minutes of rugby that we have played this season,'' said Grewcock.

"There is no doubt that this is the biggest game that we have played so far this season.

"Beziers have grown in stature as the competition has progressed and they possess one of the biggest packs in European rugby.''

Meanwhile, head coach John Connolly has urged the fans to turn out in force to cheer Bath into the semi-finals.

"We value this competition and the shot at some silverware is something that we would love to go for, so I am urging fans to get down to the Rec and shout us through to the semi finals," said Connolly.

Two layers of frost covers are blanketing the Rec pitch giving protection for the plunging temperatures tis week. The club also have industrial heaters on stand-by.

Bath will unleash some of their most potent three-quarter weapons on Beziers as they try to secure their place in the semi-finals.

World Cup heroes Mike Catt and Iain Balshaw will start, while Connolly is also hoping to field full-back Matt Perry in the second leg clash.

Catt is pencilled in for just 40 minutes at fly-half with Olly Barkley starting at inside centre, then moving inside when Ireland international centre Kevin Maggs replaces Catt at half-time.

Perry failed to train with the squad yesterday, but Connolly said: ''We are hopeful that Matt will be able to play.''

Connolly largely keeps faith with the forwards, despite a torrid time at the hands of a strong French pack last Saturday.

Young flanker James Scaysbrook comes in, while Michael Lipman or Scott Gray will sit on the bench.

Bath: Perry, Balshaw, Higgins, Barkley, Danielli, Catt, Wood, Flatman, Humphreys, Bell, Borthwick, Grewcock, Scaysbrook, Beattie, Feaunati. Subs (from): Blake, Mears, Barnes, Malone, Gray/Lipman, Fidler, Crockett.

SWINDON College Old Boys slipped to a 27-7 defeat against Trowbridge 2nd in their latest outing.

The Swindon side found themselves 17-0 down at the break, after a period of uncontested scrums,.

Hooker Mark Brown's arrival saw the scrums contested and after a number of half-time changes, College fought their way back in the second half.

They eventually grabbed a consolation try through James Harman, converted by Mark Lea, while Chris Bulman showed promise on his debut.
