WHEN Kennet councillors debated the proposals for the Northgate scheme, Guardian councillor Tony Duck is on record as having voted with the Conservatives in favour of the plan.
I voted against it as it was obvious to me that Devizes needs more retail provision and more employment opportunities on this site. I am therefore puzzled by the letter from Guardian councillors (Gazette, January 22) which appears to criticise a scheme for which one of them actually voted.
Now the Northgate scheme seems to have floundered we may have an opportunity to review the plans for the site. I hope this time they will support me in my effort to bring more retail provision and jobs to Devizes as my wish is to safeguard the future of Devizes.
