RESIDENTS in Westbury could have to wait until the end of March to learn whether the town's cement works will be allowed to burn Recycled Liquid Fuel.
Lafarge lodged an application to burn RLF for a six-month trial period last year, prompting concerns from environmental campaigners and MP Andrew Murrison.
Environment Agency bosses had been due to give their verdict on the plan by tomorrow at the latest. But at the time of going to press this deadline looked set to be extended for a further two months, due to what the agency described as 'procedural problems.'
The delayed verdict comes in the week that Wiltshire's Liberal Democrat group has written to Government minister Elliot Morley demanding a public inquiry into the application.
Cllr Jeff Osborn said: "A public inquiry is a must. The Primary Care Trust should also be involved as there is real concern about a number of serious health issues."
