CHILDLINE is calling on Wiltshire residents to help raise much-needed funds by donating their unwanted mobile phones and chargers.
The children's charity is running its mobile phone amnesty throughout 2004, during which time each handset and charger could net £70 to support its work.
As an added incentive, the donations will also help the environment as all mobile phones collected will be recycled.
Among those supporting the Childline campaign is footballer turned TV presenter Ian Wright.
He said: "If you're anything like me, you'll always want to have the latest gadget and you'll end up with old mobile phones lying around all over the place. So why not put them to good use and donate them to ChildLine it's really easy and you won't feel so guilty next time you upgrade."
Sarah Campbell-Barnard, ChildLine South West fundraiser said: "Every day around 300 children call ChildLine London and South East, but due to lack of funds fewer than half can be answered. The support of local schools and businesses is vital if we are to reach our goal of answering every call from every child."
