SUMMER may be months away but staff at annual holiday activity scheme Splash are already gearing up to help youngsters enjoy the long break.
The holiday programme, now in its 15th year, gives youngsters aged from 10 to 16 the chance to take part in activities including computer skills, drama, circus skills, music, dance, graffiti and animation workshops.
The Splash team is now preparing packs to send to youth centres, leisure centres and voluntary groups throughout the county inviting them to apply for a grant to run activities this year.
In 2003 Splash received 124 applications from groups and issued grants totalling £46,339.
As a registered charity, Splash has to raise money to fund the scheme. This year's target is £168,849, which will support over 45,000 young people in the county.
The scheme relies heavily on donations. Anyone who wishes to give to the scheme can contact the Splash team on (01380) 734106.
