MODEL aircraft fans have permission to fly over Brixton Deverill, despite villagers' fears that someone could get hurt.
West Wiltshire District Council has given Lords Hill Model Flying Club a three-year extension to use Summerslade Down.
Many villagers fear the decision endangers walkers and horse riders and the petrol-powered planes will lead to noise pollution.
Campaigner Peter Marsh said: "There are many people who share my views that flying model aircraft, some as wide as 6ft, are dangerous to ramblers and horse riders. They fly at incredible speed and it is only a matter of time before an accident happens."
The club have been using Summerslade Down for 10 years and have almost 60 members.
David Andrews, chairman of Lords Hill Model Flying Club, said: "There were some problems with local residents about the noise but once they understood we wouldn't be flying over the village they were okay."
Upper Deverills Parish Council acted as mediator between the flying club and residents and drew up a charter.
Restrictions imposed on the club include banning night flying and allowing only five aircraft in the air at one time.
