AN army wife who lost her son to meningitis has said thank you to a kind-hearted friend by helping to fund a new school hall.

Andrea Hasson, of Warminster, lost her 11-month-old son Ben last March but has donated £750 to The Minster Primary School.

Cash raised at a Royal Green Jackets family fun day in the summer was donated on Thursday in appreciation to school governor Gilly Milne who works for SSAFA, an organisation assisting families of servicemen.

Now the school has added the cash to a fund paying for a new hall for physical education.

Mrs Hasson said: "At about the same time Ben went another soldier's son died from cot death.

"We wanted to do a family event and make sure the money was used in the community. It was a way to give something back after the help I got."

The Minster Primary School has been raising funds for the new hall for nearly five years and are now closer to their target.
