I understand the full Trowbridge Council meeting recently handed back the decision to cull the pigeons in Trowbridge back to the committee chaired by Cllr James.
I wasn't at the meeting, but it seems to me they have cleverly put Cllr James in the firing line if a cull is going to be his decision, so that he get all the flack from sensible minded people who know that killing the birds is not going to solve the problem.
I suggest he gets in touch with PICAS (Pigeon Advisory and Control Service) who will give him their free advice on how to control the birds using scientifically proven methods.
Unfortunately councillors don't have all the answers to all the problems thrown at them, and sometimes need to listen to people who know what they are talking about.
Last year our own council had a problem when the manager of the council-run Icebowl in Dumfries decided to get in a pest control firm to control the birds.
The result was a public outcry as birds were reportedly left dying on the streets and cars damaged by the ammunition meant for the birds.
I earnestly ask Cllr James to look at the correct ways of controlling the birds and maybe get himself more votes by controlling the pigeons humanely.
