FURTHER to the letter from Mr Collins regarding the Reprieve for Paxcroft Mead residents, I wonder if I could add some further information?
As the seconder of the proposal not to remove the access condition for the new development I was as surprised as Cllr Carbin that we succeeded. If the developers take it to appeal, however, we may not be so fortunate.
In my opinion this issue highlights the fact that the whole planning system needs looking at. When it suits developers of adjacent plots of land (eg if they can make more money) it would seem that they are quite happy to work hand-in-hand with one another.
However, on another occasion they may choose to make full use of the planning regulations and claim that they are operating 'independently' and so it isn't fair to expect them to co-operate with a rival firm.
Talk about having your cake and eating it too!
E CLARK
Independent District Councillor,
Paxcroft Ward.
