STUDENTS at the Clarendon School, Trowbridge, have taken to the airwaves on a newly launched radio station.
Youngsters got their first taste of CSR (Clarendon School Radio) while they ate their lunch on Wednesday.
The station is broadcasting throughout the lunch break three days a week, keeping pupils up-to-date with what's happening in the school.
Teacher Jason Whiley, who is the station's director of programmes, said: "The kids are absolutely loving it. It is fantastic."
The station has already attracted its first celebrity guest who is due to give an interview on air on Friday.
CBBC presenter Gemma Hunt has agreed to come along and meet the pupils and give the station a boost in its first week. The idea for CSR grew out of a meeting about school councils when Mr Whiley and the youngsters involved learnt other schools were using radio stations to promote their councils.
The youngsters are providing their fellow pupils with a mix of information, interviews, music and features. The station will expand to broadcast five days a week after half term and more pupils from the school will be going on air.
Mr Whiley hopes it can eventually reach outside Clarendon into the wider community.
The station also takes phone-in requests, with pupils able to use text messaging to ask for songs or to give suggestions for future.
Up and coming bands at the school will get the chance to have their music played on air and give interviews.
