THE case against a man facing kidnapping and robbery charges has been adjourned for 10 weeks so a psychiatrist can compile a report about him.
Robert Smith appeared before Swindon Crown Court on Friday charged with a series of offences in Trowbridge in November.
The 42-year-old is accused of kidnapping two sisters and one of their boyfriends from a house in Dursley Road, and a series of robberies, on November 16.
He is said to have held up teenager Hannah Smith in an armed raid at the Spar shop before kidnapping her two sisters Laura and Victoria and Richard Coppack. The robbery charges relate to incidents at the cash machines at the Tesco supermarket in County Way.
Smith was charged with three kidnappings, three robberies and three firearms offences relating to alleged incidents on the day.
In court Smith spoke only to identify himself. No pleas were entered.
The case was adjourned until April 2 for further reports to be compiled and Smith, of Hampton Gardens, Aylesbury, Bucks, was remanded in custody.
