YOUNGSTERS who have given first aid in emergencies are being urged to enter a competition.
St John Ambulance is looking for youngsters in Swindon between seven and 18 to enter its Young First Aider of the Year competition.
Barbara Cooper, of the organisation's Wiltshire branch, said: "We need youngsters who have acted quickly, calmly and effectively in emergencies.
"Nominees will be put forward for the national competition.
"An awards ceremony will take place at London Zoo."
Any young person with or without first aid training can be nominated.
The closing date for entries is May 20. To enter, call the charity's Wiltshire headquarters on 01380 728362.
Meanwhile, schools in Swindon can enter another contest. The National School First Aid Competition offers a top prize of £1,750.
To take part, schools must complete the St John Ambulance Young Lifesaver Scheme.
St John Ambulance offers youngsters the chance to learn skills that could save a life. But besides first aid, members also learn how to tackle a fire, how to care for the elderly, plus camping and communication skills.
