LAVERSTOCK & Ford were soundly beaten 5-1 away to last season's Divi-sion One champions Hayling United.
The home team made the breakthrough on 15 minutes when 'Stock were caught square at the back and an incisive through ball ended with the ball being rifled past Liam McConnell.
Laverstock dug in, but could not produce a shot on goal and Hayling got the crucial second with a header from a whipped in free kick four minutes before half time.
After the break, Hayling extended their lead to five before Newman's neat finish from Steve Haugh's excellent cross provided a consolation.
Laverstock play their final home game of the season on Saturday when they entertain Fleet Spurs.
