DETECTIVES are investigating a fight at a Westbury bar in which a man was hit in the face with a pint glass.
A 20-year-old Bath man was glassed in the face in the early hours of Sunday morning at Player's Bar, next to Club Ice. Police are describing the incident as an unprovoked attack.
The victim was treated at the Royal United Hospital in Bath for a suspected fractured cheekbone and cuts to his face.
Det Con Paul Clifford said the man was traumatised by the attack and would now have to consult an eye specialist and face surgeon.
DC Clifford said the victim was stood with a group of friends when he was approached by a second man at about 1.30am.
Scores of clubbers witnessed the attack and police are appealing for more to come forward to help them build a clearer picture of the incident.
DC Clifford said: "It is an extremely nasty assault and a disturbing incident to happen in a Wiltshire nightclub.
"People can speak to me in confidence. It is bound to have been a busy time.
"I am particularly interested in identifying two females who would have been in the bar area at the time."
l Police arrested a 21-year-old man from Bath in connection with the glassing. He was released on police bail until yesterday.
