WESTLECOT ladies bid today to retain their National Over 60s Double Rinks title, writes DAVE EATON.
They booked their place in the last four at Basingstoke with a 40-35 win over Angel (Tonbridge) in the quarter-finals at Wey Valley (Guildford).
It is the third year in a row that Westlecot's ladies have reached the last four, but it was last year at Basingstoke which saw them defeat Cheshunt by 19 shots to become the first from Westlecot's men's or women's sections to win a national title since the indoor club was opened in 1983.
The Lodden Vale (Basingstoke) green has been a happy hunting ground for the Westlecot ladies, having registered a couple of victories there last year and a last-16 win earlier this season.
Teams Rink 1: Jean Bird, Brenda Cars, Wendy Anderson and Doris Woodley. Rink 2: Maureen Rogers, Joyce Laming, Mary Moss and Josie Lloyd. Reserves: Val Mortimer and Peggy Oakes.
