TOBY Colbourne believes there needs to be a big shake-up at Westbury United if their dismal run of results is to come to an end.
A month ago the club were chasing promotion, having only lost three league games all season, but now after three consecutive defeats the Westbury striker claims his side have become too predictable.
Westbury have played a direct style of football all season, with three strikers upfront, but Colbourne feels the opposition are becoming wise to their tactic.
He said: "There is just no football being played. I believe we are being told to play the long ball style to a greater extent than we ever have been before.
"There are some very talented players here but all we do is pump the ball long and teams know exactly what we are going to do.
"A big shake-up could be what is needed because at the moment it is just not good enough. Perhaps we could have a look at our tactics and change things around a bit."
Colbourne, who has bagged 26 goals in 27 appearances this season, said: "In December I would have put my money on us to win promotion and win the Wiltshire Senior Cup but that has all gone in the last few weeks.
"I think we are now battling with Street, Corsham and Willand for fifth and sixth place. It is very disappointing.
"I didn't think it could get any worse than losing to Ilfracombe, but we then go and lose 4-1 to Larkhall."
"I think the players are just putting on their shirts and thinking that is all they need to do to win.
"Personally speaking I think the team is lacking in fitness but I think I am the only one who thinks that.
"Over the past few weeks we have gone from being a half decent side to a very poor one. There is no bite and no team spirit."
The striker left for a brief spell over Christmas to join Dr Martens League Western Division side Clevedon Town but after three goals in three appearances he returned.
Despite their downturn in fortunes Colbourne insists he has no regrets about coming back.
He said: "I am still very happy here. To be honest Saturday was probably my worst performance of the season so I have to take my share of the responsibility."
Westbury entertain Street tomorrow before playing at home to Colbourne's former employers Calne Town on Wednesday and the striker feels he has a point to prove.
He said: "I enjoyed my time there, but I left on a bit of a sour note.
"I don't feel as though my efforts were appreciated by some of their committee and it would be nice to score a couple of goals."
