IT was champagne all round at Waterhouse nursing home in Limpley Stoke on Friday as a resident reached the milestone of her 100th birthday.
Kay Denham's family travelled over from Holland to celebrate the grand occasion with her.
Her son, Neil, said: "It went very well. There were a lot of people and a lot of cards. We had a little buffet and champagne and she seemed to really enjoy it.
"She got a nice card from the Queen, which she was very impressed with."
Mrs Denham is originally from Cheshire but spent much of her married life in Bath, where she worked as a physiotherapist.
She carried on working well into her 70s and lived in her own home until March last year, when she moved into Waterhouse.
Shortly after moving in she broke her hip but, despite her family being warned she might not survive, she made a quick recovery and was back at the home after just a few days in hospital.
As well as her doctor son and his Dutch wife Gerrie, Mrs Denham's grandsons, Robert and Mark, also joined in the birthday celebrations.
Her eldest grandson has just qualified as a doctor, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, and his younger brother is currently in his third year studying medicine.
Her niece Anne Sweet and her husband John also came along to the party.
