A NEW baby was a surprise 18th birthday present for a Bradford on Avon woman this week. Tiffany Wiltshire was due to give birth to her first child on February 17 but the baby held on until Tuesday to be born on his mum's birthday.
Miss Wiltshire said: "It was a lovely birthday present, something really special."
Little Tremaine-Jay Anthony finally put in an appearance at 2.45am at Trowbridge Hospital, weighing 7lb 15oz.
Miss Wiltshire went into labour seven hours earlier and gave birth with her partner, Troy Gibbs, 22, at her side.
Mr Gibbs said: "I was nervous but excited and it was brilliant. I would do it again but not for a long time."
The couple, who have been together for nearly 18 months, grew up around the corner from each other in Whitley, near Melksham but have now settled in Bradford on Avon.
Miss Wiltshire's pregnancy went smoothly and the labour itself was uncomplicated, allowing her to spend much of it in the hospital's birthing pool. The couple chose their son's unusual first name, Tremaine, after Mr Gibbs saw a character on a video with the same name.
Miss Wiltshire's mother came up with the idea of adding Jay as she thought Tremaine was a bit long and they could then shorten the name to TJ.
The pair are now looking forward to getting used to life with their new son at home, but don't want any more additions to the family just yet.
Miss Wiltshire said: "We are not planning any more for at least four or five years, when I've forgotten what the pain is like."
