THIEVES may be posing as Southern Electric workers after two uniforms were stolen from a car parked in West Swindon last weekend.
The uniforms include shirts, a blue fleece and waterproof jackets. Police and trading standards officers are worried that the uniforms could be used by rogues to con their way into homes.
In Penhill this week there have been two distraction burglaries where cash was stolen from homes. Other residents also reported workers knocking on doors trying talk their way into homes.
Residents have been advised not to let any unexpected callers into their home, and have been reminded to check identity by calling the company's number from a phone book, not from any cards handed out.
Anyone with any concerns can contact Swindon police on 01793 528111.
