TOWN councillors in Highworth want skaters to reconsider plans to site a skatepark at Crane Furlong.
Although councillors suggested the site off Lechlade Road two years ago it was not favoured by skaters.
Rob Mountain, the chairman of the Highworth Sk8ters, wanted somewhere more central.
But Mr Mountain left Highworth in January, and councillors are hoping his replacement will view the play area at Crane Furlong more favourably.
Members of the council's leisure committee say the site is ideal because it is away from any houses.
Town clerk Dave Lane said: "It was suggested that we look at a site near the entrance to Highworth Golf Course.
"But the land is owned by Swindon Council and we felt it wouldn't agree because of nearby houses.
"Crane Furlong is ideal because it is away from houses and kids play there anyway."
The Highworth Sk8ters have been trying to build a park for several years and have raised £8,000 to buy equipment.
The problem has always been finding somewhere suitable to site it.
No one from the skaters was available to comment.
