COUNTBACK was needed to secure Westlecot men a place in the last 16 of the Famous Grouse Top Ten competition, writes DAVE EATON.
A dramatic regional play-off against Banister Park (Eastleigh) ended with the overall scores tied at 63 shots each and with both teams taking the honours in two disciplines.
Westlecot won the singles and fours at home and lost the pairs and triples away.
With Neil Smith winning the singles, Westlecot move forward to the last stages in Darlington over Easter.
Mel Biggs rink collected 1,4,1 on the last three ends for a 15-12 victory while away the pairs and triples were 15 shots down but pulled in a decisive nine shots for an overall draw.

Home Singles: Neil Smith won 21-15; Fours: Jamie Titcombe, Jeff Nichols, Hedley Bowen and Mel Biggs won 15-12.
Away: Pairs: John Thomas & Dave Snell lost 13-15; Triples: Kevin Embling, David Vowles and Neil Hope lost 14-21.
63-63 draw but Westlecot qualify for finals in Darlington.
