Ref. 29409-36WROUGHTON Infants School is healthy and that's official. Pupils and staff at the school in Wharf Road were celebrating yesterday after winning a Healthy Schools Award from Swindon Council.
Headteacher Susan Pagett said the award looked at three different areas of school life healthy living, personal and social education and a wildlife project. Governors, friends and villagers had given them a lot of support. They also helped staff and pupils dig out a new wildlife pond.
"We were given advice by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and now we have a really good wildlife area which is used as a teaching space," said Ms Pagett.
The school also provided water bottles for the children in their classrooms for use during the day and taught them the importance of taking good care of themselves and being kind to each other.
"We just felt that we had done a lot of work in that area and thought that the school deserved to be rewarded for it," she said. "It has given the whole school a real boost."
She paid tribute to the staff, governors and the village for their encouragement.
