TOWN will set sail for Plymouth Argyle on Saturday with Andy King confident the outcome could go a long way to shaping the club's promotion destiny.
Sammy Igoe's late winner in the 2-1 win over Brentford at the County Ground saw the Robins close within five points of second-placed Bristol City.
Automatic promotion is becoming a more realistic target by the game but King knows that the trip to Home Park could be a major factor in determining whether Town are left to fight it out in the end of season play-off lottery.
Managerless leaders Plymouth are 10 points clear of Town but an away win would really set the cat amongst the promotion pigeons.
King said: "There's no point trying to take the pressure off or hide from the fact, we are the form team in this division.
"Plymouth will be mentioning us as much as I've got to worry about them.
"It is a difficult game, away from home but I'm not going there with any fear in my mind. It's a wonderful challenge.
"If we win there, then there's a game on in this league, that's for sure. It will certainly make a statement.
"It's easy for me this week, not to motivate my players but to tell them that this is probably the game which will define the season.
"If we nick it, then there's going to be a lot of teams worrying. If we don't then the test for this team is to see how they react in a bid to bounce back.
"I don't know what's going to happen. All I do know is that it's a big week.
"But we needed the result against Brentford to be able to go to Plymouth and test ourselves."
The man responsible for putting Town in a strong position for that 'test' is midfielder Igoe, pictured.
The 28-year-old volleyed home his first goal since August to give Town their 2-1 victory over the struggling Bees.
Igoe, who feared he was about to be substituted just moments before his goal, knows his late intervention might yet prove crucial.
He said: "If we do get promotion then I can look back on it and think what an important goal that was. It might just be the three points that makes the difference.
"I don't get too many and it was a relief to see the ball finally hit the back of the net."
Town are due to lock horns with old rivals Oxford United at the County Ground in the Pontins Holidays Combination on Wednesday (2pm).
