Melksham left a major dent in Brislington's Premier Division ambitions with a surprise 2-0 win at the Conigre.
The hosts took the lead 10 minutes before the break when Simeon Allison unselfishly squared for Neil Thomas to fire home.
Allison was rewarded with the killer second on 58 minutes, dancing around Brislington keeper Richard Orris before slotting into an unguarded net.
While Bris continue to occupy third place, the potential title decider at Paulton saw the hosts come from behind to beat closest rivals Bideford 4-3.
Dan Cleverley scored a hat-trick to extend Paulton's lead to five points over their Devon rivals.
Elsewhere in the top flight, Devizes were beaten 2-0 at home by Bridgwater.

Corsham beat high-flying Bitton 2-0 at Southbank.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men just before the break when defender Mark Davis was sent off and Corsham made the numerical advantage count in the second half.
