THE Link Centre in West Swindon is appealing for charitable athletes to help a teenager who is fighting leukaemia.
Gemma Lambeth needs £4,000 to help pay for treatment which will give her a chance of having children. The 19-year-old, from Toothill, is having her eggs harvested before under having a bone marrow transplant, as doctors say the treatment will make her infertile.
The Link Centre is now looking for 30 men and women to test themselves to the limit in aid of The Gemma Lambert Fund.
It is planning a sponsored sports day on April 10, with a 50m swim, a 100m sprint, gym tests, skill tests, a 500m rowing event, a five minute bike sprint and an 800m run.
Another fundraising event for the same cause is planned for this month at the Grange Drive Community Centre, in Stratton St Margaret, Swindon.
A 1970s disco is planned at the venue, on March 20, and will include an auction and raffle.
So far some £3,000 has been raised from donations and other charity activities.
Anybody who is interested in taking part in the athletic challenge is invited to contact Neil Hillier or Caroline Painter on 01793 445566.
