Swindon Spitfires Reserves hosted Chippenham Town Ladies in their latest Wiltshire league fixture and despite a keenly-fought contest, lost 2-1 with both teams missing penalties.
Lia Painter opened the scoring on 15 minutes when her seemingly innocuous shot found the corner of the net through a crowd of players.
Both teams then competed for dominance, with Chippenham launching a series of attacks down both wings.
However it was the Spitfires who scored next to equalise when a superbly-flighted pass from Sharon Townsend found Jemma Harrison in full flight at the far post.
The second half was largely dominated by the visitors, though both teams created their fair share of chances.
Spitfires defender Mandy Pearson and goalkeeper Gemma Carter did their best to keep Chippenham out with several tremendous tackles and saves, but were unable to prevent the visitors scoring the winning goal, Lucy Bailey heading home from a cornner.

Spitfires' junior teams did achieve success. The under 14s gained their third successive victory with a comprehensive win over Devizes Town.
Spitfires dominated the game throughout, with two goals from Natasha Blackwell setting up the win.
Captain Lauren Wakeling's late goal made the victory more certain. There were also encouraging performances from new signing Amber Keen.

The under 12s kept up their challenge for a good final league position with a comfortable win away at Swindon Badgers.
Lucy Woodward's first half goal and Katie New's in the second, her first for the club, were enough, but the final scoreline failed to tell of Spitfires' total dominance.
Keeper Gemma Barnes hardly had a save to make, while Becky Horwat, Emily Willson and Emma Skinner came close to adding to the score, the latter player hitting the post three times.
