A lecture revealing some fascinating insights into a puzzling natural phenomenon will be held in Swindon tonight.
The sight of a small bird feeding a cuckoo which may weigh up to ten times as much as the foster parent has astonished experts for more than 2,000 years. The talk called The Cuckoo Clever Tricks with Eggs will be presented by Professor Nick Davies, who is a professor of Behavioural Ecology at the University of Cambridge, at the University of Bath in Swindon.
The lecture is the penultimate in the university's Oakfield Public Lecture Programme. The last lecture will look at the life of Winston Churchill presented by Derek Smith who will examine just how great the wartime leader was.
It will evaluate Churchill's career from the early days to the power and success during World War II and the final years in his second premiership.
That talk entitled Winston Spencer Churchill How Great? takes place next Wednesday, March 17.
All talks run from 5.30-6.30pm and are held in the Main Hall of the Oakfield Campus. Admission and parking are free.
