Ref. 29442-19TODDLERS can play and parents can learn a craft at a new parent and toddler group in Abbey Meads.

The group, called Wrigglers, meets every Monday between 1pm and 2.30pm in the Community Room at Abbey Meads Primary School on Hugo Drive.

Lisa Hume, 30, from Abbey Meads, set up the group with fellow parent Alison Carr.

She takes her daughter, nine-month old Emma, and son Justin, 18 months, to the group.

She said: "We set it up because of the long waiting lists to join the other parent and toddler group and some only cater for a narrow age group of children. Here we welcome toddlers and babies of all ages."

Although the number of people joining has been slow it is increasing, each parent paying £1.75 for the hour and a half session to have a drink, biscuits and the chance to catch up on gossip.

The club is one of a number of groups using the Community Room at the school, among them are church and dance groups as well as slimming, martial arts and youth clubs.
