THE teachers and pupils of Lyneham Junior School are feeling flushed with success after Ofsted inspectors heralded it as "an exciting and dynamic place to learn".
The school in Preston Lane, Lyneham, was visited by inspectors on December 1 and 2 last year and received gradings of very good and excellent in many areas.
Headteacher Ian Tucker said: "We are delighted with the way that Ofsted tuned into the buzz and vibrancy of this stimulating learning environment.
"The report found that a high proportion of the teaching and learning that takes place is either very good or excellent and the children are strongly motivated in their studies.
"The school is, quite simply, an exciting place to be part of and the community that the school sits amongst plays an important part in promoting the pupils' achievement."
Mr Tucker praised pupils for their positive attitudes, their good behaviour and their hard work.
He said: "They are also superbly supported by teachers and teaching assistants who engage closely and encourage them in their efforts every step of the way."
Standards achieved by pupils at Lyneham Junior School are well above the national average.
Areas for improvement identified by the inspectors are upping the achievement of boy pupils, which is below that of girls.
But Mr Tucker said he and his staff know the school can improve and are committed to driving it forward. He added: "There is a very bright future for this school and a desire to fly high with the very best, something that Ofsted were quick to pick up on."
