SALISBURY golfer David Hut-ton continues to make a name for himself as he attempts to qualify for the European Tour.
Last week he triumphed at the Wiltshire Matchplay Champion-ship at Bowood Golf Club, defeating Broome Manor's Steve Robertson by two and one in the final.
Hutton is now the only professional to hold both the Matchplay and Strokeplay titles at the same time.
The 28-year-old professional, who is attached to High Post Golf Club, saw off the challenge Upavon's Richard Blake in the quarter-final before beating Euro Tour player Steve Surry at the semi-final stage.
He won the Strokeplay last June at Marlborough by a record low score of eight under par, joining North Wilts' Graham Laing and Salisbury star Gary Emerson on the short list of players to have successfully defended their titles.
Last year Hutton received the prestigious Nigel Blenkarne Trophy for the most improved professional on the West Region circuit after closing the season 13th in the Order of Merit for local golf pros.
