Ref. 12432/3GAZETTE & HERALD: SIXTH-formers raised more than £1,800 at a fashion show and variety night at John Bentley School in Calne last week.

The night was such a success that spectators paid to stand at the back of the hall after all the seats were filled.

Head student Louise Jones, 17, who organised the event to raise funds for charity said: "It was a very successful evening. All the students and teachers involved put on a really good show. They should have most of the credit."

More than 350 people came to the event last Friday to watch teachers strut their stuff on the catwalk and perform on stage. A group of teachers even formed their own boy band for the evening.

Head teacher Anne Burrell took to the catwalk dressed as Maid Marion.

The students also got on stage to dance, sing and play the night away.

The clothes were loaned by BHS, Marks & Spencer, Republic, Ben Sherman, Etam and the Giant Party Shop. Proceeds will be divided between Bath Royal United Hospital, the children's charity CLIC and the school's sixth form community fund.
