HIGHWORTH'S disappointing Hellenic League run continued last night with a 3-1 defeat at struggling Pegasus Juniors.
After conceding defeat in the Premier Division title race, John Fisher hoped that his troops would play without pressure.
No such luck. Playing on a rock-hard pitch, Highworth lost midfielder Sean Terry to an early ankle injury and found themselves two goals down at the break.
The Swindon side should have been awarded a penalty early in the second half when Adam Giles was impeded but the referee was unimpressed and the hosts broke immediately to make it 3-0.
Matt Jack's consolation was of little comfort to Fisher and the Highworth boss said: "We were awful and I can't wait for the season to end to be honest.
"Pegasus have got in our half five times in the first half and scored twice.
"There are no excuses for it but the pitch was rock hard and the game must have been close to being called off."
Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Didcot were held to a 1-1 draw by Pewsey, handing the leadership to Southall, who triumphed 2-1 against Hungerford.
In the Screwfix First Division, Calne won 2-1 in their Wiltshire derby at Westbury with Glen Armstrong hitting the winner.
