ON Friday, February 27 I hosted Music Nite, a fundraising event at St John's School to raise money for my trip to India.

I am going with a multi-national organisation called Teaching and Projects Abroad which has organised my travel, accommodation, my placement as a voluntary assistant in an orphanage and an opportunity to teach English in a local school.

I would like to express my thanks to all of the people that have made it possible to raise money, Marlborough Rotary Club and the Kempson Trust for their generous donations. Music Nite would not have been possible without all the help I received.

I would like to thank Dr Hazlewood for allowing me to use the school hall and Mr Tapper for all his help leading up to and during the event.

The musical talent of St John's made the evening successful and very enjoyable.

Thank you to all the bands and performers who took part and everybody who helped put it all together.

There was also a raffle, the prizes for which were all generously donated by Marlborough businesses so I would like to thank Jesse Smith, Bertie Maffoons, The Entertainment Centre, The Crown, Bytes Caf, Active Traveller, Sound Knowledge, The India Shop, Discoveries, Autocare, Munchies, In the Red, the White Horse Bookshop, the Faerie Shop and Quality Stationers (which also donated a gift for the children at the orphanage).

Finally I would like to thank all the students of St John's, their friends and family for coming along to support the event.
