WHAT a strange world we're living in! St Peter's School in Devizes is short of pupils and the suggestion is to move the school across town to prospective pupils.
In Rowde there's talk of moving the village school to a greenfield site because they have too many pupils. Yet only a little over 50 per cent of the pupils attending the school are from the villages of Rowde and Poulshot. At present Rowde children are being refused a place in their village school.
We're told that children need more exercise but they won't be walking to school when they're being driven vast distances for their education. Parents then find their children alienated from their neighbour's children and have to transport them back to the school area to socialise out of school hours.
The relationships made at this stage could well last a lifetime. We all notice the difference on the roads when the school holidays arrive. So let's top this nonsense local is best.
