CREATING a county fit for our children is the driving force behind a new vision for Wiltshire.
The county council has come up with a community strategy putting the 'big four' of improving public health, increasing skills and training, minimising rubbish and making the county's towns more pleasant places to live at the top of the agenda.
Leader of Wiltshire County Council and chair of the Wiltshire Strategic Board Jane Scott, said: "I hope by working together to one strategy and one set of objectives we really can make Wiltshire a county fit for our children.
"This is the first ever community strategy for the whole county."
Creating A County Fit For Our Children was written by the Wiltshire Strategic Board and launched by the Lord Lieutenant for Wiltshire, Sir Maurice Johnston, on Monday.
The vision's goals are to make Wiltshire the healthiest county by 2012, the most waste efficient county by 2010, to improve Wiltshire's street scene, and to increase adult basic skills.
The plan has been produced in response to the Government requirement that all county and district councils produce a community strategy setting out plans to improve the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of their areas.
