WORK to rebuild Winsley cricket pavilion after it was gutted by fire is to be helped along the way by a donation for £1,000.
The Lions Club of Bradford on Avon will present the cheque to Cricket Club chairman Peter Cross tomorrow at a Lions Open Day in Winsley.
Cricket club members worked hard to tear down the old pavilion to clear the site for a new building after a fire swept through it in April last year.
They have been searching for funding ever since to help pay for the new pavilion.
The presentation is one of a series of Lions Club activities running at Nicholas Church Hall from 11am-7pm.
Lions president Ken Giles said: "We are hoping to show the residents of Winsley what the Lions Club does and hopefully recruit some new members.
"One of my big themes this year is first aid and we will have members of the St John Ambulance team demonstrating first aid techniques.
"People don't have to take part in the session or do anything if they don't want to but I hope that they'll at least watch and then they will know what to do if they find themselves in an emergency situation."
