As you highlighted in last week's publication, Trowbridge Wanderers football club have been left without a home after our current hosts, Trowbridge cricket club decided we were no longer welcome to play football at the county ground .

At the stroke of a pen and without any notice, 250 children are now without the facilities to play the game they love .

Year after year our football club has been struggling to find sufficient sports fields to sustain our growing membership and has made numerous approaches to the district and town council for help. They have consistently failed to provide us with anything to alleviate the situation.

As an example, Lambrok playing fields should have been hosting regular football for the last three years, but is still unused.

The children of this town deserve better. Now it's time for the authorities to show they are serious about providing youth facilities, no more empty promises or paying lip service to the problem. Time to get off your collective official backsides and let's see something done about it.

We have the full support of our MP, Dr Andrew Murrison and we will be campaigning until we get a new home for our kids.

Trowbridge Wanderers Football Club

IT was extremely disappointing to read the news in last week's edition that Trowbridge Cricket Club have cancelled their contract with Trowbridge Wanderers FC and have made them homeless.

Over 250 boys and girls have now been denied the opportunity to play football for their town and to finish the league. Most of the leagues still have four or more games to play with some age groups having a great chance to win their respective leagues. But with no home ground now, league titles are very much in doubt.

Do the cricket club have a suggestion as to where the teams can finish off the remaining games, and if so, are they brave enough to tell the children and their parents why.

I always thought that cricket was a game played by gentlemen: it's a shame that they do not exist at Trowbridge Cricket Club.

In a fast growing town, the county town, 250 children take second place to 30 or so men. In other towns, clubs share the facilities very amicably for mutual gain.

I AM writing to you about our football club and our pitches because we have 250 people in our club and if we don't have our pitches we don't have anywhere to play and then our club might fall apart. So please let us play for a long time. Thank you.
