TEACHERS and pupils are getting to grips with £7,000 worth of play equipment at a Trowbridge primary school.
Equipment installed after a fundraising drive by parents and the school association has proved a hit with pupils at St John's School, Wingfield Road.
Teachers hope the series of mushrooms, wooden logs, ropes and wobbly bridges will help inspire children during playtimes.
Deputy headteacher Marian Morgan said the school unveiled plans for the adventure play- ground at last year's summer festival with the money raised in quick-fire time.
"We wanted to say thank-you to all the parents who gave money and made this possible. It is amazing what parents will do," she said. "They are very supportive and are looking at projects all of the time.
"All the children have had a go on the equipment. We have had to draw up a timetable so they all get a go.
"It has helped us to develop the children's creative playtimes."
There are plans to develop a wildlife area at the school to take learning out of the classroom.
