JOBCentre staff had to be moved out of offices in Trowbridge over fears toxic fumes were spreading from an adjacent petrol station.
The JobCentre in Bythesea Road was relocated to a base in Polebarn Road on Tuesday while tests are being carried out.
Environmental health officers from West Wiltshire District Council were alerted and monitored testing procedures at the Texaco petrol station.
Staff raised the alarm when they smelt petrol fumes in the office.
Petrol station manager Olen Sakkeer said there was no indication petrol was leaking from pipes or tanks but everything is still being checked.
