Ref. 14820/19A FASHION show organised by Tesco and starring supermarket staff and their children has raised nearly £800 for charity.

Dorothy House Hospice in Winsley and the Wiltshire Times 150 Fund are the beneficiaries of last Wednesday's event in which hundreds of spectators crammed into Trowbridge Civic Hall to see the latest Tesco clothing range paraded around the catwalk.

Peter Reece, Tesco customer services manager, said: "I have had loads of e-mails from people in the town congratulating us on the event. We have had a fabulous response and people said it was the best fashion show they have seen."

Models endured weeks of rehearsals while choreographer Wayne Palmer, of DC Leisure, put them through their paces ahead of the event.

The show was part of this year's 150th birthday celebrations for the Wiltshire Times and nearly £400 has been added to the pot for our 150 Fund for local good causes.

Louise Keenan, Wiltshire Times sales and marketing manager, said: "It was a brilliant evening and the models were fantastic and looked really professional.

"This event really helped raise the profile of the Wiltshire Times 150 Fund as well."

Trowbridge company Media Inventions Ltd produced a video of the show and copies of the tape will be available, with proceeds going to Dorothy House.

Media Inventions managing director Graham Risdon said: "I know from personal experience how devastating cancer can be and how much Dorothy House helps both sufferers and their families so was particularly pleased when we were asked to help out."

Copies of the video are available from Tesco, Trowbridge or the Wiltshire Times office at 15, Duke Street.

Indulge to help 150 Fund

A percentage of money raised from a pampering evening for women to try out new cosmetics from Virgin's cosmetic company, Virgin Vie, will also go towards the 150 Fund.

The company has been running for six years and relies on 8,000 independent consultants around the UK to market the cosmetics to women locally.

Annemarie McConaghy, from Trowbridge, is organising the 'indulgence evening' at Fieldways Hotel on March 23.

She said: "These are top quality, premium products but we sell them at affordable prices.

"I hold at least two events a week and it is a chance for ladies to relax with a glass of wine and get together and try out the products.

"It is good fun and they will get a free drink and a goodie bag to take away with them.

"Mostly once people have tried the products they keep coming back."
