MALMESBURY VICS can look forward to staging midweek fixtures and competing in the FA Vase after the completion of their floodlights project.
The first team, who travel to Middle Barton in the Hellenic Premier Division tomorrow, will play their first game under the lights at the Flying Monk ground in the reverse fixture on Wednesday, March 29.
Work on the project funded by grants from the Football Foundation, the Wilts FA, North Wiltshire District Council along with the club's own fundraising has been on-going all season and the fruits of the labour will be evident as the Vics aim to compete in next season's Vase and enter an under-18 team in the Floodlit League.
Club president Dave Picter said: "On a personal level, floodlights are something I have dreamed about for many years but never thought I would see.
"It enables us to play some of our home games in midweek which should attract more people to the ground.
"The committee of the club have worked particularly hard to ensure this project took off, particularly chairman Paul Neale and his wife Sue who is club secretary.
"I would also like to thank the Wiltshire County FA, especially secretary Mike Benson for the advice and encouragement so freely given."
