SWINDON Council is urging consumers to check their cupboards after officers found food on sale that is the subject of a food hazard warning.
All Pran Brand Pickles have been found to be contaminated with the illegal dye Sudan I.
Shops in Swindon where the product was found on sale voluntarily surrendered it to officers, but members of the public are being urged to check their cupboards for the following products:
Pran Brand Mango Pickle
Pran Brand Olive Pickle
Pran Brand Mixed Pickle
Pran Brand Satkara (Citrus Pickle)
Pran Brand Lemon Pickle
Pran Brand Garlic Pickle
The pickles can be dangerous, especially if consumed in large quantities.
They do not comply with food safety requirements and the dye is not a permitted colour under government regulations.
The manufacturer is doing a trade withdrawal but it is possible some of the products may still be on sale or in homes.
