CHIPPENHAM slumped to a 25-6 defeat at Swanage & Wareham in South West Division Two East.
The game started badly when Chippenham infringed just after the kick-off. Swans kicked to the corner and used their powerful catch and drive. Chippenham managed to keep them out on their first attempt but conceded another penalty. Swans opted for another lineout and drove over for a converted try.
A penalty stretched their lead to 10-0 before fly-half Dan Reynolds cut the deficit with a penalty.
He was unlucky to see two further penalties hit the post, and Swanage eventually forged into a 15-3 lead with an unconverted try.
After half-time, Chippenham slotted another penalty, but it was to be their last score as the home side grabbed a converted try and penalty to complete the scoring.
SWANAGE & Wareham completed a weekend double over Chippenham as they lifted the Dorset & Wilts 2nd XV Cup with a 27-0 victory in the final at Salisbury yesterday.
With the wind and rain hampering any hopes of a flowing game, the Swans heavier pack held sway and they ran in four tries to lift the trophy for the first time since 2000.
